The Violence Prevention Hotline proposes to provide free, confidential, expert support for people in distress and who feel compelled toward committing acts of violence in the future.
But that is no small task!
It will take a tremendous amount of technical setup, staffing, and organization to support the mental health resources that would be needed to cover every inch of the country with 24/7 availability.
Many states have already begun efforts to make similar efforts possible on a local level. They’ve been able to do this through government support and funding – And the results have been highly effective.
The first step is making local and federal representatives aware of the need and effectiveness of these efforts.
That’s why we’ve begun an easy letter-writing campaign to contact government officials that anyone can participate in online. It only takes a few seconds!
Our team has organized a sample letter outlining many of the key factors members of congress will likely look for when considering this proposition. You can send it as is, or make your own revisions. Note: A salutation to the member of congress you’re emailing as well as a signature with your name and address will be added automatically.
If you’re able to support these efforts by sending a letter, click here to get started!
We appreciate your support!
