Campaign To Message Your Government Representatives Is Now Open

The Violence Prevention Hotline proposes to provide free, confidential, expert support for people in distress and who feel compelled toward committing acts of violence in the future.

But that is no small task!
It will take a tremendous amount of technical setup, staffing, and organization to support the mental health resources that would be needed to cover every inch of the country with 24/7 availability.
Many states have already begun efforts to make similar efforts possible on a local level. They’ve been able to do this through government support and funding – And the results have been highly effective.
The first step is making local and federal representatives aware of the need and effectiveness of these efforts.
That’s why we’ve begun an easy letter-writing campaign to contact government officials that anyone can participate in online. It only takes a few seconds!
Our team has organized a sample letter outlining many of the key factors members of congress will likely look for when considering this proposition. You can send it as is, or make your own revisions. Note: A salutation to the member of congress you’re emailing as well as a signature with your name and address will be added automatically.
If you’re able to support these efforts by sending a letter, click here to get started!
We appreciate your support!

Get Involved in the NVPH Mission:

Be a lifeline for change. At the National Violence Prevention Hotline (NVPH), we believe that preventing violence begins with connection. Whether you’re looking to support our mission financially, advocate for systemic change, or access resources to help someone in need, there are meaningful ways you can make a difference.

Donate To The Cause

Donations are more crucial now than ever, as federal funding for vital lifeline services continues to decline.

Volunteer with the Hotline

Volunteering with the Violence Prevention Hotline is an opportunity to make a real difference by supporting individuals who are struggling with violent thoughts or urges before they cause harm.

Contact Your Local Representative

Reaching out respectfully to your local representatives is one of the most powerful ways to drive real, lasting change.

Consider This:

If you are struggling with any of these feelings, the first step is to ask for help from a local therapist, counselor, or mentor. If you feel like you are needing to talk to someone as soon as possible, you may call our hotline now and either talk to us live or leave a message at (888) 664-6652

It may be hard, but reaching out to a trusted friend to tell them your feelings can also be helpful. We are at the National Violence Prevention Hotline are standing by to take your call, though we do not have 24/7 coverage yet, we will connect with you if you leave us a message. We are here to listen and help the best we can–we are not here to judge you.

If you feel like you are about to commit an act of violence today, considering calling 911 and asking to be taken to the nearest emergency room as you may be in a crisis and it is safer to have people care for you at a hospital.
